Our Vision
IPE (ee-pay) is the Indian name for the beautiful and majestic Tabebuia tree, whose bark yields the powerful medicinal Pao D'arco. And given the direction we wanted the farm to take, we found this was a most appropriate name. Finca Ipe was born of the dream to establish a self-sufficient and productive haven, removed from the pressures and pollution of industrialized society. Nurturing a lifestyle in harmony with nature and community is the vision of those of us who live and work here. To this end, we have dedicated much care and creative energy in planning, developing and managing the farm we love. We are totally committed to providing chemical-free, Biodynamic® produce - herbs, spices, medicinals, essential oils, and greens - in a sustainable and nurturing manner.
A haven in the tropics
Finca Ipe comprises 12 hectares of a working, Certified Biodynamic® and Organic farm, nestled in the scenic coastal mountains that rise above the beautiful Pacific coast of Costa Rica. Just 20km west of San Isidro, this lush farm is rich in tropical scenery. Its natural springs attract an abundance of wildlife and colorful birds. Cool ocean breezes provide a comfortable temperature for plants and animals alike. The surrounding area is a haven for all nature-lovers with stunning waterfalls, exotic rainforests, deserted beaches and gorgeous sunsets.

So who are we?
Does anyone ever know? That's just it, we're discovering for ourselves, every day. What we do know is that a bunch of us have left our previous existences to live on and around the farm, to share, learn and grow together. If you want to know where we come from, well, all over the place! Greg is from the USA; Sabine is from Germany, and her son Max was born here in Costa Rica. Alan, Louisa and their children Enrique and Keri, along with Harold, his wife Lizabeth and their son Janier are local Ticos. We have some close neighbors too including Tanya and Chris who are from England; Mike and Lara, and Krista who are from the USA though Lara is English; Summer, Emiliano and Sophia, from the USA (Emiliano is Argentinean). New neighbors are soon moving in to Casa Canella, another property adjoining the farm.

None of us could say we're experts, but we're learning new things everyday. We also have our enthusiasm, faith and courage, as well as an abundance of love to try and make this vision we're cultivating daily become a reality for people to share in and learn from. What's more, we learn from the wonderful individuals who come to our home and live the experience. So why don't you take a look for yourself? Use the navigation buttons and enter our little paradise…
