Building towards a better future

We are really excited about our future here at Finca Ipe. We have so many ideas; it's more a question of which ones to put in to operation first!

We're seeking funding and resources to develop our own solar and hydro electricity. We'd also like to build more greenhouses so we can try growing an even greater variety of medicinal herbs and plants. And now that we're Biodynamic®, we'd like to start producing our own preparations.

We are also developing a more formalised education program and in collaboration with Punta Mona, we have launched our Intern Program in January 2006 called Sustainable Living and Eco-Agriculture in the Tropics. This six week course includes Biodynamics®, Permaculture, Natural Building and Animal Husbandry, as well as Spanish throughout the whole period. Click away to read more information and apply. A Permaculture certificate will also be offered. In addition, we are currently running intensive two-week courses, such as Natural Building.

But at the heart of all we are creating here, is the idea of community. As such, we are working with the local community - children and adults alike - to help educate them on the knowledge we have gained. They too can then reap the benefits of organic and Biodynamic® farming and understand that there are alternatives available to them.
